Dog Cataract Surgery Does Anyone Have A Dog That Has Had Cataract Surgery After Going Blind From Diabetes?

Does anyone have a dog that has had cataract surgery after going blind from diabetes? - dog cataract surgery

We have a 7 years old Maltese was diagnosed with diabetes in September. Last weekend, lost his sight to see from Friday night (can) until Saturday morning (most eyes are missing). The vet said that surgery could be an option.

Diabetes does not cause cataracts.

This leads retinopathy, where blood vessels are damaged and bleeding in the retina, which imparied and eventually lead to blindness.

The treatment of retinopathy is the cataract surgery, laser surgery, but one that is slower than the progression of healing or the operation that caught the blood removed and replaced it with a clear solution.

It is also healed.

A cataract is a cloudy film on the eye, vision, and can cause blindness and distort surgery is the removal of the opaque and the vision to restore.

Cataract surgery will not help the cause of diabetes-related blindness.

I had had a dog that was diabetic and blind. The surgery was not an option for them due to their age and the risk he would not wake up after anesthesia. Therefore, we decided against it, and it was fine. She learned to use his other senses. Good luck with your dog. I hope it will be good.
