What is the safest travel option between lower east side @ upper west side of NYC? - lower east side bars

Hello everyone, I'm in New York in a few weeks and I think, check out "Death & Co. Salon (433 E) 6. S. I'll stay close to Central Park (around 79th St W) and asked me what is the best way to get back at night would it be? Also recommendations of bars and restaurants near where I am very grateful that this is my first time in New York by myself.
